Everyone likes to receive a gift, whether on a birthday, Christmas, or a special occasion. It makes us feel important and special, and it makes us feel appreciated. Who can make us feel more loved and valued than God our Father? Matthew 7:11 (NKJV)-11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! A very familiar verse to many is John 3:16 (NKJV)-16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. “For God so loved”. Love is who God is and not just what He does! His love changes us. Romans 2:4 (NKJV)-4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? We can never underestimate the goodness of God. His love and goodness have drawing power. It can cause us to think differently about who God is. The world may picture God as angry, distant, a tyrant, manipulative, harsh, unfair, and demanding, but is that true? Jeremiah 31:3 (NKJV)3 The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you. Jesus revealed the true nature of God in John 14:9. If we see Jesus, we see the Father. When we experienced God’s saving grace, it was because our hearts were open to His love for us. This was a gift from God. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. All that God provides for us is a gift. It is a gift of grace that is received by faith. We don’t deserve it, and we can’t earn it. It just must be received by faith. More than ever, we need to focus on the goodness of God. Below is a list of the gifts of God. What He provided through salvation.
- Romans 8:32 (NKJV)-32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
- 1 Corinthians 2:12 (NKJV)-12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
