Wavering, Weariness, and the Washing of the Water of the Word.
Ephesians 5:26 (NKJV) -26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
At times we waver in our minds unable to stay focused. We are unsteady and unstable. We are tossed to and fro unable to anchor into God. We go back and forth in our minds from faith to fear, doubt, and unbelief. Our emotions are all over the place. We become weary in the battle. We lose our footing.
Hebrews 12:3 (AMP)-3 Just think of Him (Jesus) Who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself [reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you may not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your minds.
When wavering and weariness try to take hold we need more of the washing of the water of the Word. We need to be in His presence. The Word of God gives us wisdom and knowledge in how to deal with life and all of its challenges. Christ is the power and wisdom of God. He lives in you! The Word salvation in Hebrew is yeshuah= Jesus. The Hebrew word for strength is khosen=wealth, riches, and treasure. Knowledge of Jesus and the wisdom he gives is true wealth and riches. This is said over and over in Proverbs. The worshipful reverence of the Lord of knowledge and wisdom is our treasure. It is a place of stability. The Hebrew Word for stability is ʾêmûnâh. It means firmness; figurative security; moral fidelity, faithfulness, stability, steady, true, truth, and verily.
Isaiah 33:6 (NKJV) -6 Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, And the strength of salvation; The fear of the LORD is His treasure.
Isaiah 33:6 (AMP) -6 And there shall be stability in your times, an abundance of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge; the reverent fear and worship of the Lord is your treasure and His.
The Word of God is the wisdom and knowledge of God and of Jesus. It brings stability, steadiness, security, truth and fidelity. It will wash away wavering and weariness. God’s word is an anchor for your soul. This is our hope in Christ. Romans 11:33 (NKJV) –33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! Also in Ephesians 3:8 (NKJV) -8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. God doesn’t want us to fall apart like a two-dollar suitcase. In the up-and-down culture and society of today, we need stability both spiritually and emotionally. We need to be in a place of certainty about our walk with God. These are not days to vacillate. The Word of God tells us to be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ. Also in Colossians 1:23 (NKJV) -23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
We can’t allow ourselves to be moved by anything other than God and His Word. If you want spiritual and emotional stability. To be a house or a home that doesn’t fall apart. The answer is in Christ and His Word. Proverbs 24:3-5 (NKJV) -3 Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established;4 By knowledge the rooms are filled With all precious and pleasant riches.5 A wise man is strong, Yes, a man of knowledge increases strength; The Passion Translation is interesting: Proverbs 24:3-5 (PassionNTPsa) -3 Wise people are builders—they build families, businesses, communities. And through intelligence and insight, their enterprises are established and endure. 4 Because of their skilled leadership the hearts of people are filled with the treasures of wisdom and the pleasures of spiritual wealth. 5 Wisdom can make anyone into a mighty warrior, and revelation-knowledge increases strength. That is quite a translation. Let us resist wavering and weariness. Let the water of the Word in the power of the Holy Spirit cascade over us and wash it away. Let us build with the wisdom and knowledge of God. In closing. In Ephesians five we see Christ and the Church, His body. Jesus sets us apart for Himself and with His Word he cleanses us. God’s Word has a cleansing and purifying effect on our souls. Psalm 19:7 (AMP) –7 The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. A strong and stable Christian is one who loves and hides God’s Word in his or her heart. They are strong in Him and not in themselves. The Word has restored power and benefits for the child of God! All we have to do is receive them by faith and then thank God for it.
“This may be a season where God is taking you from a low point of wavering and weariness and hurling you forward into a greater dimension of His love and grace via His presence and the Word of God!”
Hebrews 12:2-3 (NKJV)-2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.
Isaiah 40:29-31 (KJV) –29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
