The other evening, I watched The Jesus Revolution for the third time with my wife. It still moves me to tears. I have a great respect for the late Pastor Chuck Smith. He was willing to open his Church to a younger generation needing Jesus. They were unwanted, overlooked, wild, and despised, yet God wanted them, and Pastor Chuck wanted them too. It was the start of a Jesus Revolution. It impacted millions. It was an awakening. These last four years seem to parallel what was happening in the late 60s and 70s. There was division, corruption, wars, riots, a bad economy, drug abuse, sexual deviation, communistic ideologies, and spiritual and moral decline and disillusionment. A lot has happened in our country and on the world stage. It has been a tough four years. You can tell how much of a spiritual battle it has been between good and evil and light and darkness.
On November fifth, 2024 we had our election. A new president-elect Donald J. Trump has become our forty-seventh president. It was nothing short of a miracle. Many people were praying even abroad for him to win this election. I believe he is the best candidate because he is pro-life, faith, family, and freedom. I have never seen so many praying for our country, mobilizing, and sharing their faith. Some say we are in another Great Awakening. You may not agree with Trump and his personality at times, but I believe that he was the best choice. It seems for most Americans it was their choice as well, since he won the popular vote. We as Christians need to pray for the transfer of power in this new administration. That all the appointments get confirmed. We need to pray for the president-elect and vice president for continual protection, provision, and wisdom. It’s not a time to sit back and relax. We need to keep praying in faith believing for God’s hand to continue to move in America.
I truly believe something God-like is happening. It’s almost like you can smell something in the air. “ It’s the sound of abundance of rain.” I would call it Revival Rain. Acts 3:19 (NKJV)19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, I love to read about previous revival and their impact on the Church and society.
- Are you hungry for revival and reformation?
- Is revival happening to you personally?
- Do you have a greater desire for the things of God?
- To live a more holy life for you are holy in Christ?
- To be a better witness to the unsaved.
- To support your local Church by serving.
- Do you sense the Holy Spirit motivating you to pray, read the Bible, and spend time with Father God because you love Him and not out of obligation or religious duty?
Revival is repeating New life within the Church. It is fresh oil of the Holy Spirit. ( Psalm 92:10). Awakening is what happens in the culture as people are stirred and desire reform, especially spiritually and morally. It is a time when people look up to God and not to the government, or themselves for answers.
- In 2023 we heard of Revival at Asbury College.
- The Jesus Revolution movie, and thousands getting baptized at Pirates Cove in California and in Florida.
- Harvest Christian Fellowship Sr. Pastor Greg Laurie held the massive baptism event where 32,500 people gathered and 6,794 made decisions to dedicate their lives to Jesus Christ.
- We see worship gatherings in different cites with Let Us Worship leader Sean Feucht.
- Tens of thousands of American university and college students are continuing to attend campus revival meetings across the country nearly 20 months after the 16-days of non-stop worship, prayer, repentance and testimonies at Asbury University in Kentucky.
- A huge revival broke out at The Ohio State University during the last week in August 2024 with hundreds of colleges students showing deep hunger for God as the new school year kicked off.
- In September 2024 the Unite US movement also showed up at the University of South Carolina where more signs of revival were on display. Over 4,000 students gathered to lift the name of Jesus at Colonial Life Arena, and hundreds of students made the life-changing decision to follow Jesus. Many were also baptized in the Thomas Cooper Library Fountain afterward.
- Pastors Michael and Bonnie Fehlauer of New Life Church posted, “Nearly 1500 students last night Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi… 62 water baptisms… Powerful testimonies… Many physically healed and delivered! Jesus is Lord….. and He is coming back.”
- In the fourth major collegiate revival in less than a month, thousands of students gathered at the University of Arkansas on Thursday night to seek Jesus Christ and find salvation in His name.
- Unite US reports that 10,000 students from 67 different universities gathered in Bud Walton Arena. “Jesus met us there,” the ministry said in an Instagram post. “We were blown away by His presence in the room and how it carried over to baptisms. It was a night we’ll never forget.”
- Chaplain Rondon (left) at July 29, 2018, Chapel service, when 200 soldiers gave their lives to Christ. Army Chaplain Jose Rondon believes “there is nothing more exhilarating in life than seeing people come to Christ.” In the last six months, Rondon has experienced that exhilaration with more than 1,400 professions of faith — something one could describe as a spiritual awakening — at Fort Leonard Wood, his place of ministry.
- There have been numerous prayer gatherings for renewal and revival, as well as Church revivals across our nation. The above are just a few.
I love the old song “ It’s Beginning to Rain Here the Voice of the Father” I believe it is happening! John 7:37-39 (NKJV)-37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.38 He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.”39 But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. We see in the book of Joel, he prophesies of the former and latter rain. Joel 2:23 (NKJV)-23 Be glad then, you children of Zion, And rejoice in the LORD your God; For He has given you the former rain faithfully, And He will cause the rain to come down for you– The former rain, And the latter rain in the first month. We know God poured out His Spirit two thousand years ago on the Day of Pentecost. Acts 2:16-18 (NKJV)-16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh;Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,Your young men shall see visions,Your old men shall dream dreams.18 And on My menservants and on My maid servants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. Sons and daughters, old and young impacted by the Spirit of God! There are a lot of encouraging signs right now! How we need revival.
Are we locking God, the Holy Spirit out of our lives and Churches? Revelation 3:20 -NKJV)-20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Jesus was knocking on the Church of Laodiceans not just the individual or even the sinner. It was the Christians. It is an open invitation to fellowship with Christ. Again we see this in John 7 as noted above. If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. God is all about life. Jesus boldly proclaimed ‘”I have come to give you life and life more abundant” (John 10:10). This includes Eternal life. Psalm 85:6-7 (PassionNTPsa)-Revive us again, O God! I know you will! Give us a fresh start! Then all your people will taste your joy and gladness. 7Pour out even more of your love on us! Reveal more of your kindness and restore us back to you! God is all about fresh starts, and new beginnings, where there is death He wants to bring life.
In Conclusion: The Bible encourages us to be continually filled with the Spirit. It is not a one-time event. Ephesians 5:18-20 (AMP)-18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.19 Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord,20 At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father. This is something we have to do. What characterizes this ongoing filling is having a heart of worship and thanksgiving. It also tells us to speak to one another God-inspired words. How can I speak inspired words if I’m not in the Word? There is much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and what God is doing in our country. God’s rain is falling, A mighty rushing wind is blowing. He poured out His Spirit two thousand years ago and hasn’t stopped yet. Do you hear Him knocking at the door of your heart? Are you more hungry for God? Are you surrendered to Him? Has it begun in you? Let us continue to be filled with the Spirit of God and boldly proclaim the good news of the Gospel!
In Christ’s love;
