I have been on a healing journey for the last three and a half years. During this journey, I dove into the topic of healing after spending sixteen days in the hospital. I read books, watched videos, and listened to testimonies about those who were miraculously healed. I have always believed in healing and experienced healing at different times. My wife has also experienced healing, as well as our kids. Have we gone to the doctors and used medicine? Absolutely! It was our practice to seek God first and let the Holy Spirit guide, giving us wisdom ( 2 Chron. 16:12). Thank God for doctors and medicine and trusting in God’s promise of healing. This has been the longest time standing in faith for my healing. One night not long ago, I couldn’t sleep, feeling discouraged. I got up to read my Bible. After an hour, I went back to bed. Before I lay my head on the pillow, the Lord spoke to me by the Holy Spirit and said,” Don’t be discouraged, son, I’m going to bring you through this. With that, I fell fast asleep. That was an encouraging word! A gentle voice within speaking to me.
I’ve learned a lot about healing and am still learning. My wife and I have seen people gloriously healed whom we have prayed for. God still does healing today! Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) –8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. ( Acts 10:38). We thank God for all those who have been praying for us. Thank God for the body of Christ. One of the things lately that God has reminded me about is the use of our imagination. I love studying the Word of God, memorizing scriptures, and meditating. Yet using our imagination is a powerful thing. Honestly, this is something I haven’t done a lot of. What I mean is that using our mind ( imagination) and visualizing ourselves healed. Seeing sickness and disease leaving our bodies. This is not mind over matter. It is not New Age! It is not Christian Science that denies the reality that we are in. It is subjecting ourselves to a greater spiritual reality. The spiritual truth that by the stripes of Jesus we were healed ( 1 Peter 2:24). What is true in the spirit realm will eventually be true in the natural. Jesus not only died for the forgiveness of sin but also for the healing of our bodies. If we can’t see ourselves healed. Seeing it in our imagination, then what is true in the spirit holds healing in a state of flux.
You know, when we go to the doctors and he gives us a negative report, our imagination goes to work. We imagine all sorts of things, and they are usually not good. We start to see ourselves as sick, we feel fear, and all sorts of negative emotions. If it’s a terminal diagnosis, we start imagining how our life will end, who will be at our funeral, and how much we will suffer. Right now, I don’t want to think about that. Imagination is powerful. Look at this verse in Isaiah. Isaiah 26:3 (NKJV)-3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. The Hebrew word for mind is yēṣer . It is the imagination. The place of conception. A noun meaning form, framing, or purpose. The innermost thoughts of one’s heart, both with a positive and a negative connotation. ( Strongs dict.). Most of the scripture, especially in the Old Testament, speaks of an evil imagination. ( Gen 6:5, Gen. 8:21). Also: Genesis 11:6 (KJV)-6 And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. We can use our imagination in a good way. In the New Testament, the Greek word for imagination is logismos. It means computation, working out, reasoning, devising, reflection, formulating, and considering. We see this word in Corinthians. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV)-5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; We cast down wrong imagination, but we can have the right imaginations. That doesn’t contradict the Word of God! We use our imagination every day. We see a picture of where our car is in the parking lot. How to drive home a certain way. Commercials give us pictures, and we imagine eating that burger or chocolate cake. Yummy!
I have gained a lot of head knowledge regarding healing. That is not a bad thing. People are destroyed for a lack of knowledge ( Hosea 4:6). It is not good that a soul be without knowledge ( Prov. 19:2). We are told to pursue the knowledge of the Lord ( Hosea 6:3). Apostle Peter tells us this:2 Peter 3:18 (NKJV)-18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. Gaining knowledge of God’s Word is revealing His will to us and for us( 3 John 2). So it starts here, but it also has to get into our hearts and our imagination. The place of conception. This requires intimacy, like between a husband and a wife. By that I mean intimacy with God. Having a close relationship in prayer with Father God. It means abiding in Christ and His Word abiding in us like a seed (Luke 8:11-15)! This is what Jesus said: John 15:7 (NKJV)-7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. He also said, John 8:31-32 (NKJV)-31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
The thing about intimacy with God is that it takes both quantity and quality to have a close relationship. Desiring a baby will not happen if there is no conception. Receiving the promises of God will not happen without conception. The power of believing is seeing and imagining that you already have it! This is faith in action. Hebrews 11:1 (AMP)-1 NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. When you’re in doubt and unbelief, you struggle and waver to see and imagine it( James 1:5-7). Your physical senses are telling you otherwise. The symptoms and the doctors’ report tell you otherwise. Notice that faith is the title deed of things we hope for. Hope that is seen is not hope (Rom 8:24). Hope gives faith something to hold on to. Hope is a positive imagination. A confident expectation of good things to come. Where do we get hope? We get it from the promises of God, the scriptures (Rom. 15:4, Rom. 15:13). If we first don’t have any hope, it is hard to move into faith. Faith grows in our hearts when hope is established in us.
The thing about chronic sickness and diseases is the temptation to give up. To get into doubt and unbelief. To waver in our faith. It can get discouraging and lead to depression. We can doubt God, and we have thoughts like: “Maybe healing isn’t for me? Maybe God is punishing me. Maybe it is not His will?” All these thoughts are contrary to God’s Word and His will for us! Look at Apostle John’s heart: 3 John 1:2 (AMP)-2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers. Look at this verse in Romans: Romans 8:32 (AMP)-32 He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things? There are many promises about healing in the Word of God ( Proverbs 4:20-22, Psalm 103:1-3, Isaiah 53:4-5, Matt. 8:17, Acts 10:38, 1 Peter 2:24).
In conclusion, in my journey, I never asked God why this has happened to me. I never blamed God. It is never God’s fault, and He isn’t withholding healing( Psalm 84:11). He isn’t trying to teach me something. I have His Word for that and the Holy Spirit. I never asked why it is taking so long to manifest healing. Too much time is spent looking for reasons why you’re not healed. Let the Holy Spirit guide and lead you, and stay with the Word of God. When we are in faith, it should produce a sense of peace and expectation. (Phil. 4:4-8). Hopefully, we have moved from struggling with doubt and unbelief to a place of rest in God ( Hebrews 4:1-3, Hebrews 4:9-10). A rest that is filled with praise and thanksgiving for what God has already done through Christ. (Col 2:7). We are standing on His promise and faithfulness ( Hebrews 6:12). See the life of Christ flowing in your body, His light and power driving out sickness and disease (Rom 8:2, Rom 8:10-11, John 1:4). Spend time in prayer, seeing this in your imagination, releasing your faith. Close your eyes a picture this within! Seeing yourself well and free in Jesus’ Name. Remember, head knowledge is not enough, but it’s a start. Plant the seed of God’s Word in your heart! ( 1 Peter 1:23, James 1:21). It becomes a revelation knowledge to you that you can act on! Learn and study. To be fully persuaded that you know that you know you are healed of the Lord, regardless of what you see or feel. What is true in the spirit, the Word of God( John 6:63) will eventually manifest in the natural! This is where I am now, and I will continue to give God praise for His faithfulness( Isaiah 55:11). Jesus, the great physician( Exodus 15:26)!
In Christ’s love;
